Important Information for RRB Ajmer Candidates
Candidates from Rajasthan may wish to review the RRB Ajmer vacancies. According to Annexure B, Ajmer has 124 vacancies: 47 for Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk, 25 for Accounts Clerk cum Typist and 52 for Junior Clerk cum Typist. Trains Clerk is not included in this Ajmer vacancy table. These are railway/unit-wise vacancies under RRB Ajmer and do not guarantee posting exclusively in Rajasthan. Check Annexure B for the detailed vacancies across all RRBs.
Educational Qualification and the 50% Marks Rule
- Candidates must have passed 12th / 10+2 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board, normally with at least 50% aggregate marks.
- The notification relaxes the 50% requirement for SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-servicemen and candidates holding qualifications higher than 12th standard.
- The prescribed qualification must be completed by 13 November 2026. Candidates awaiting their final results are not eligible.
- Any relaxation depends on the correct category and supporting certificates. Acceptance of an application does not confirm final eligibility.
Age Limit and Relaxation
The standard age limit for all notified posts is 18 to 30 years, calculated as on 1 January 2027. OBC-NCL candidates receive three years of upper-age relaxation and SC/ST candidates receive five years, subject to the applicable conditions. Rules for PwBD candidates, Ex-servicemen, eligible railway employees and other special categories appear in paragraph 5.2 of the notification.
Enter your date of birth exactly as recorded in your Class 10 certificate. Do not automatically combine relaxations available under different categories; read the complete rule applicable to your circumstances.
Application Fees and Refunds
| Candidate Group | Fee | Refund on Attending CBT-1 |
|---|---|---|
| Candidates outside the concessional groups | ₹500 | ₹400, less applicable bank charges |
| SC/ST, ExSM, PwBD, female, transgender, minority and eligible EBC candidates | ₹250 | ₹250, less applicable bank charges |
Pay online through Internet Banking, Debit/Credit Card or UPI. Refund eligibility is linked to attendance in CBT-1. EBC, OBC and EWS are distinct categories; OBC or EWS status alone does not establish eligibility for the EBC fee concession. Read the application instructions concerning an Aadhaar-seeded bank account for refunds.
Selection Process: No Separate Typing Test in This Recruitment
- First Stage Computer Based Test — CBT-1
- Second Stage Computer Based Test — CBT-2
- Document Verification
- Prescribed Medical Examination
An important change in CEN 07/2026 is the removal of the separate Computer Based Typing Skill Test (CBTST) for Junior Clerk cum Typist and Accounts Clerk cum Typist. Basic computer and typing proficiency is still required and will be assessed after joining. This provision relates to this notification; do not apply typing-test rules from earlier recruitment cycles. Refer to paragraph 13.0 for the selection process.
CBT-1 and CBT-2 Examination Pattern
| Subject | CBT-1 Questions / Marks | CBT-2 Questions / Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General Awareness | 40 / 40 | 50 / 50 |
| Mathematics | 30 / 30 | 35 / 35 |
| General Intelligence and Reasoning | 30 / 30 | 35 / 35 |
| Total | 100 / 100 | 120 / 120 |
| Standard duration | 90 minutes | 90 minutes |
Both CBTs carry one-third mark negative marking for each incorrect answer. Eligible candidates using a scribe receive additional time as specified in the notification. The subject-wise distribution is indicative. CBT-1 is a screening stage; further shortlisting uses normalised CBT-2 marks. Minimum qualifying marks are not the final selection cutoff, which depends on competition and available vacancies.
Syllabus and Preparation
Mathematics: Prepare number systems, fractions, percentages, ratio, profit and loss, interest, time and work, speed and distance, and elementary geometry. Reasoning: Practise series, coding-decoding, relationships, syllogisms, puzzles and data-based questions. General Awareness: Study current affairs alongside history, geography, the Constitution, general science, the economy and computer basics. The detailed syllabus appears in paragraphs 13.1–13.2 of the notification.
Track accuracy and time as well as the number of questions attempted. After each mock test, classify mistakes into conceptual errors, calculation errors and errors caused by rushing. Use this review to identify the topics that need revision.
