RRB Section Controller Cut Off 2026
CEN 03/2026 • Category-wise qualifying marks • CBT and CBAT rules
The RRB Section Controller Cut Off 2026 is the score required for shortlisting at a particular selection stage under CEN 03/2026. Candidates should compare their marks with the official cut-off for their own RRB, category and stage. A coaching estimate or an answer-key score is not an official shortlisting decision.
Official cut-off status — checked 17 October 2026: No CEN 03/2026 result or cut-off PDF was found in the RRB Ajmer official notice listing reviewed. A verified category-wise selection cut-off is therefore not available on this page. Check your chosen RRB for a later notice.
RRB Section Controller Cut Off: Overview
| Particular | Details |
|---|---|
| Recruitment | Section Controller, CEN 03/2026 |
| Notified vacancies | 119 |
| CBT | 100 questions for 100 marks; 120 minutes |
| Negative marking | One-third mark for each wrong answer |
| CBAT shortlisting | Based on CBT merit; ordinarily eight times the vacancies, community-wise |
| Final merit | 70% CBT + 30% CBAT among CBAT-qualified candidates |
Category-wise Minimum Qualifying Marks
The notification sets the following minimum percentages for eligibility in the CBT. These figures must not be presented as the announced 2026 selection cut-off.
| Category | Minimum CBT qualifying percentage |
|---|---|
| UR | 40% |
| EWS | 40% |
| OBC-NCL | 30% |
| SC | 30% |
| ST | 25% |
The CEN contains a conditional provision for relaxation by two marks for PwBD candidates when there is a shortage against vacancies reserved for them. It is not an automatic reduction for every applicant; apply it only where the notified conditions are fulfilled.
Qualifying Marks vs Selection Cut Off
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Minimum qualifying marks | The minimum threshold prescribed in the recruitment notification. |
| CBT shortlisting cut-off | The merit threshold used to call candidates for CBAT in the relevant RRB and category. |
| CBAT qualifying standard | A minimum T-score of 42 in every test battery. |
| Final selection threshold | The merit level at the relevant final stage, subject to vacancies and all other requirements. |
For example, meeting the UR minimum of 40% does not by itself establish that a candidate will be called for CBAT. Shortlisting depends on relative merit, the applicable vacancy position and the official result. Do not compare a raw CBT score directly with a final combined merit score.
How to Calculate Your CBT Raw Marks
Raw marks = Correct answers − (Wrong answers ÷ 3)
Illustration: 72 correct answers, 18 wrong answers and 10 unattempted questions give 72 − 6 = 66 marks out of 100. This is a calculation example, not a predicted cut-off.
Keep the one-third deduction as a fraction during calculation. Unattempted questions carry no negative marking. Where CBT is conducted in multiple shifts, the CEN provides for normalisation. Your self-calculated raw marks can therefore differ from the score used by RRB for shortlisting; any corrections to the answer key can also affect the final score.
Why the Cut Off Can Differ
- Vacancies and the category-wise vacancy distribution for the RRB selected in the application.
- Candidates' performance and the number of eligible applicants competing for those vacancies.
- The applicable normalisation process when the examination is held in multiple shifts.
- The selection stage and official shortlisting rules. CBT, CBAT and final merit should be read separately.
No numerical expected cut-off is quoted here because an official threshold has not been verified. A sample-based rank predictor cannot establish selection probability for the full candidate pool. Previous-cycle marks can provide context only when the recruitment, RRB, category and scoring basis are clearly identified.
CBAT and Final Merit Rules
Candidates shortlisted from the CBT must qualify every CBAT battery with a T-score of at least 42. The requirement applies to all categories without relaxation. CBAT has no negative marking. A T-score is a standardised score; it must not be described as 42 marks out of 100 or 42%.
Among candidates qualifying CBAT, final merit uses 70% weightage for CBT and 30% for CBAT. Follow the official scoring method rather than adding raw CBT marks and individual battery T-scores yourself. Document verification and the prescribed medical examination remain mandatory.
