Overview
The National Bamboo Mission (NBM) was restructured and relaunched in 2018 under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to promote the holistic development of the bamboo sector. The mission focuses on increasing the area under bamboo plantation in non-forest government and private land, improving the availability of quality planting material, and strengthening the bamboo value chain from cultivation to product development and marketing. It adopts a cluster-based, area-based approach and aims to connect growers with industry, generate employment, support handicrafts and reduce dependence on imported bamboo, contributing to rural livelihoods and a green economy.
