Overview

PM eVIDYA is a comprehensive initiative launched in May 2020 by the Ministry of Education as part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat package to unify all efforts related to digital, online and on-air education and enable multi-mode access to learning. It was introduced largely in response to school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. The programme integrates the DIKSHA platform as “one nation, one digital platform” for school education, dedicated TV channels under “one class, one channel” (Swayam Prabha), extensive use of radio and community radio, and special e-content for the visually and hearing impaired, ensuring continuity of learning for students across the country.

Key Features & Objectives

  • DIKSHA as “one nation, one digital platform” for school education content (QR-coded textbooks).
  • One Class, One Channel – dedicated TV channels for classes 1 to 12 (Swayam Prabha).
  • Extensive use of radio, community radio and podcasts for remote learners.
  • Special e-content for children with disabilities (visually and hearing impaired).
  • SWAYAM MOOCs for higher education and online courses.
