Overview

SAMARTH – the Scheme for Capacity Building in Textile Sector (SCBTS) – was approved in 2017 by the Ministry of Textiles to provide demand-driven, placement-oriented skilling to create a skilled workforce for the textile and apparel industry. It covers the entire value chain of textiles except spinning and weaving in the organised sector. The scheme aims to train people in various textile-related trades, promote skilling and upskilling especially among women and disadvantaged sections, and support the industry’s efforts to meet manpower requirements, thereby boosting employment and contributing to the growth of the textile sector.
