SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) is an initiative launched in 2018 by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, in association with Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies. It aims to set up Compressed Biogas (CBG) production plants and make CBG available in the market as a green, renewable automotive fuel, thereby boosting availability of more affordable transport fuels and supporting a self-reliant, low-carbon energy economy.

Cleaner automotive fuel. Makes CBG available at fuel station outlets of Oil Marketing Companies as an alternative to CNG for vehicles.

Reducing import dependence. Helps reduce dependence on crude oil imports and supports the goal of energy security and self-reliance.
