The Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) is a centrally sponsored scheme approved in 2023 for the comprehensive development of villages along India's northern land border. It aims to improve the quality of life of people in remote border villages, provide adequate livelihood opportunities, and check out-migration — strengthening border security by keeping these strategically important villages populated and connected.

🎯 Key Objectives

  • Comprehensive development of identified border villages
  • Improve living standards and livelihoods to reverse out-migration
  • Provide infrastructure: roads, drinking water, electricity and connectivity
  • Strengthen border security through populated, vibrant frontier villages

🛠️ Approach

1
Identify border villages along the northern frontier for development.
2
Create Village Action Plans for each cluster.
3
Build infrastructure — roads, water, power, mobile connectivity, tourism.
4
Promote livelihoods & "hub-and-spoke" growth to retain population.
