RPSC RAS & RTS Combined Competitive Examination 2026
RPSC RAS Eligibility 2026: Qualification, Age Limit & Relaxation
A clear guide to the graduation requirement, age calculation date, age relaxations and final-year candidate provision for Rajasthan State and Subordinate Services recruitment.
The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) conducts the Rajasthan State and Subordinate Services Combined Competitive Examination, commonly called the RAS/RTS examination. Before applying, candidates should check both the general eligibility conditions and any additional requirement listed for a particular service or post.
RPSC RAS 2026 Eligibility at a Glance
Educational Qualification
For the RAS/RTS 2026 examination, a candidate must hold a degree from a university incorporated by an Act of the Central or a State Legislature in India. A degree from an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament, a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government in consultation with the Commission is also covered by the notification.
The general eligibility clause specifies a degree or recognised equivalent; it does not name one mandatory graduation stream. However, candidates should read the service-wise appendix because a particular post or service may prescribe an additional qualification or condition.
The notification’s general degree clause does not state a minimum percentage of marks. Applicants should still ensure that their qualification is valid, completed as required, and supported by the documents asked for during scrutiny.
Can Final-Year Students Apply?
The 2026 advertisement allows a candidate whose final-year examination result is awaited, or who has appeared in the qualifying examination, to apply. This is a conditional provision: the candidate must meet the prescribed qualification by the applicable verification stage and produce valid proof within the deadline set by RPSC. Check the detailed advertisement and later instructions carefully before relying on this provision.
Age Limit and Calculation Date
The standard age range for the 2026 cycle is 21 to 40 years, calculated as on 1 January 2027. The relevant date of birth should be checked against the age clause in the official advertisement; do not calculate eligibility using the date you submit the form.
The 2026 notification also provides an additional one-year relaxation in view of the previous recruitment cycle’s age reference date. This is already reflected in the advertised age framework; candidates should not add it again independently when calculating their age.
Category-Wise Upper-Age Relaxation
The 2026 advertisement provides relaxations under Rajasthan rules. The commonly listed relaxations include:
- Male candidates belonging to Rajasthan SC, ST, BC, MBC or EWS categories: 5 years.
- Female candidates belonging to Rajasthan SC, ST, BC, MBC or EWS categories: 10 years.
- Female candidates in the General category: 5 years.
- Widow or divorced women: no upper-age limit, subject to the prescribed proof and rules.
- Persons with benchmark disabilities: 5 years under the applicable Rajasthan rules.
- Ex-servicemen and eligible government, Panchayat Samiti or Zila Parishad employees: relaxation as specified in the relevant service rules and the detailed advertisement.
Rajasthan Category and Certificate Rules
Reservation-linked benefits are governed by Rajasthan’s rules and the category claimed in the online application. Candidates should confirm whether their certificate must be issued in a particular format, remain valid on a specified date, or meet a non-creamy-layer/EWS condition. Applicants from outside Rajasthan should carefully read how the notification treats their category; a category certificate from another state may not provide Rajasthan-reservation benefits.
For posts reserved in a Scheduled Area, residence requirements may apply. The advertisement also has specific provisions for certain departmental and non-gazetted employee vacancies. These conditions are post-specific and should be checked in the relevant vacancy table and instructions.
Documents to Keep Ready
- Graduation degree, provisional certificate or final-year proof, as applicable.
- Date-of-birth proof and details matching the application profile.
- Valid Rajasthan category, EWS or non-creamy-layer certificate, if claiming the relevant benefit.
- Disability, ex-serviceman, widow/divorcee or government-service proof, where applicable.
- Scheduled Area residence or departmental employee documents, if the selected post requires them.
Keep names, dates and category details consistent across the application and certificates. If information is incorrect or the supporting certificate does not meet the notification’s conditions, a claim may be rejected during verification.
How to Confirm Your Eligibility
- Read the general eligibility and age clauses in the official RPSC advertisement.
- Check the service-wise vacancy appendix for any extra qualification or post-specific condition.
- Calculate your age on 1 January 2027, then apply only the relaxation that matches your verified category and status.
- Review corrigenda, application instructions and document-verification notices published by RPSC.
