SSC GD Constable Post-wise Salary and Pay Level
| Post | Pay level | Starting basic pay | Pay-matrix range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Constable GD in CAPFs / SSF | Level 3 | ₹21,700 | ₹21,700–69,100 |
| Rifleman GD in Assam Rifles | Level 3 | ₹21,700 | ₹21,700–69,100 |
Basic Pay, Gross Salary and In-Hand Salary
| Component | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Basic pay | The pay-matrix amount applicable to the employee. It excludes allowances. |
| Gross salary | Basic pay plus admissible allowances for the post and place of duty. |
| Net / in-hand pay | Gross pay minus applicable retirement contributions, tax and other recoveries. |
| Maximum of the scale | The upper end of the pay level; it is not the starting salary. |
Allowances and Deductions
Admissible allowances may include dearness allowance, house-rent allowance and transport allowance under the rules in force. Entitlement depends on posting, accommodation and service conditions. An employee occupying government accommodation may have a different HRA position from an employee renting privately.
Retirement contributions under the applicable scheme, income-tax deductions, insurance or other authorised recoveries affect take-home pay. The current appointment/pay-fixation order and salary slip are the reliable basis for an individual amount. This guide does not assume an unverified DA rate or promise a universal monthly net salary.
Job Profile
| Role | Typical work |
|---|---|
| CAPF / SSF constable | Security, guard and operational duties according to the allotted force, unit and posting. |
| Assam Rifles rifleman | Assigned operational, security and unit duties under Assam Rifles service requirements. |
How Salary Can Change During Service
Annual increments move pay within the applicable matrix under service rules. Promotion or an approved financial upgradation can lead to pay fixation in another level. These changes depend on cadre rules, qualifying service, vacancies, assessment and the relevant orders; they are not automatic simply because a fixed number of years has passed.
What to Check Before Giving Post Preferences
- Match the post name, code and pay level in the vacancy statement.
- Compare duties, location, transferable-service requirements and special eligibility conditions.
- Separate starting basic pay from an estimated gross or net figure.
- Use the actual appointment and pay-fixation order for existing-service cases.
- Check whether accommodation, deductions or posting conditions change the salary comparison.
