• SSC’s 23 October 2026 notice clarifies the category information in the SSC GD 2026 shortlist. The detailed female and male lists now show both the category under which a candidate applied and the category against which the candidate was considered. This update follows the CBE result declared on 12 October 2026; it is a PET/PST shortlisting update, not the final appointment result.

Why the Category Details Were Updated

  • Some applicants from reserved categories qualified using the standards prescribed for unreserved candidates. SSC explains that their earlier list entries therefore showed UR. The detailed lists now distinguish the application category from the category against which the candidate was considered.
  • The Commission states that the other terms and conditions of the CBE result remain unchanged. The clarification should not be described as a fresh final selection, a new appointment offer or an automatic change in the candidate’s original application category.

How to Read the Revised Lists

  • Select the list applicable to you, download the full PDF and search for your complete roll number. Match your entry with the candidate details shown in the document.
  • Read the column headings and category information alongside the official write-up. Do not interpret an isolated category code from a screenshot without consulting the full list and the Commission’s explanation.

Preparing for PET/PST

  • Keep your application, examination documents and relevant original certificates available. Follow the call-letter instructions issued for the next stage, including the reporting location, documents and physical-test requirements.
  • Being shortlisted for PET/PST is a stage in the recruitment process. It does not remove later eligibility checks or other requirements in the examination notice. Do not assume a physical-test date from the date on which the revised list was uploaded.

Useful Checks Before Raising a Query

  • Verify the examination year, roll number and correct list first. A similar name alone is not a reliable way to identify your result. Keep a copy of the relevant entry and the official clarification if you need to ask SSC about a discrepancy.
  • Use the Commission’s official website for subsequent notices. The result PDFs linked above are public documents; they do not require you to provide a password to Cosmo Classes.
