Last checked: 21 October 2026. Official notices and candidate dashboards take priority if a later update changes the information below.

The official GATE 2027 schedule lists 31 October 2026 as the deadline to rectify application scrutiny defects. The window opened on 14 October. Candidates should read the issue shown in their GOAPS account and respond to that specific requirement.

Defect rectification and paid correction are different

Process Current official position
Scrutiny-defect rectification 14–31 October 2026
Candidate-requested application data correction with fee Dates to be announced
New registration The previously announced registration windows have ended
City allotment notification 4 January 2027
Admit-card download Date to be announced

A defect raised during scrutiny does not mean that every field is open for voluntary editing. Do not assume that the October 31 deadline allows unrestricted changes to your paper, category or examination city. Check the separate correction announcement when it is issued.

Understand the application status

Dashboard message Meaning
Under Scrutiny The application is being reviewed.
Incomplete or defective Read the displayed defect and take the requested action.
Under Scrutiny: Defect Rectification Done The correction has been submitted for another review.
Application accepted Scrutiny has been completed and the application accepted.

The official FAQ explains that submitting a correction sends the application back for scrutiny. A corrected upload and an accepted application are therefore different stages. Keep checking the dashboard for the outcome instead of treating an upload confirmation as final acceptance.

A practical rectification checklist

  • Enter GOAPS through the official GATE website and read the complete defect message before changing anything.
  • Match the requested correction with the official information brochure or upload guidance. Keep your original file available so you can compare versions.
  • If an image needs replacement, inspect it at normal viewing size: the relevant information should be legible, correctly oriented and unobstructed. Follow the portal’s file specifications.
  • Preview the replacement or edited detail before submitting it. Replacing the wrong document can leave the original defect unresolved.
  • Save the acknowledgement and recheck the status after submission. If the request is unclear, contact the official helpdesk with the application reference and a concise description of the problem. Do not include your password.

Keep preparation moving alongside the correction

A useful approach is to complete the administrative task first, then return to a planned study block. Keep a short record containing the defect message, the action taken and the submission date. This makes any later helpdesk conversation more precise and reduces repeated checking during revision.

GATE examinations are scheduled across 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 February 2027; the listed result date is 19 March 2027. Dates can change, so use the official schedule for updates. Your own session and venue must be checked from the candidate documents when available.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make a fresh application through this window? Treat rectification as action on an existing application. It should not be presented as a new registration opportunity.

Should I change an accepted application just because a window is open? First establish whether you have a notified defect or need a separately permitted data change. Avoid unnecessary edits based on an unofficial checklist.
