AMRUT 2.0 (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0), launched in October 2021, builds on the original AMRUT mission. It aims to make all statutory towns of India water secure and self-reliant through universal coverage of water supply and 100% coverage of sewerage and septage management in selected cities. It promotes a circular economy of water, recycling and reuse of treated wastewater, and rejuvenation of water bodies.
Key Features & Objectives

Universal water supply. Provides functional water tap connections to all households across all statutory towns of India.

Sewerage & septage management. Targets 100% coverage of sewerage and septage management in around 500 AMRUT cities.

Circular economy of water. Promotes recycling and reuse of treated wastewater and rejuvenation of urban water bodies and aquifers.

Pey Jal Survekshan. Conducts a drinking water survey to promote healthy competition among cities on water management.

Technology & reforms. Uses a technology sub-mission and promotes reforms, transparency and innovative project financing.
