Overview
Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana (DAY) is a poverty-alleviation and livelihood-promotion programme that brings together the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) and the National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) under a single umbrella, restructured in 2015. The rural component (NRLM) is implemented by the Ministry of Rural Development, while the urban component (NULM) is implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The scheme focuses on organising the poor — especially women — into Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and federations, building their capacities, and providing access to credit, skills and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
