Overview
Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) was launched in 2015 to enhance physical access of water on farms and expand cultivable area under assured irrigation, with the broad vision of “Har Khet Ko Pani” (water to every field) and “Per Drop More Crop” (improving water-use efficiency). It converges ongoing irrigation schemes and has several components: Accelerated Irrigation Benefit Programme (AIBP) for major/medium projects, Har Khet Ko Pani for creating new water sources, Per Drop More Crop for micro-irrigation (drip and sprinkler), and Watershed Development for rain-fed areas. It is implemented in a coordinated manner by the Ministries of Jal Shakti, Agriculture and Rural Development.
