Overview

Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) was launched in 2007 to incentivise states to increase public investment in agriculture and allied sectors. It gives considerable flexibility and autonomy to states to plan and execute schemes as per their local needs and agro-climatic conditions, aiming for holistic development of agriculture. In 2017 it was reoriented as RKVY-RAFTAAR (Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied Sector Rejuvenation), with a focus on making farming a remunerative economic activity by strengthening farmers’ efforts, reducing risk and promoting agri-entrepreneurship and innovation, including support for agri-startups and incubation.
