IAEA Plans Inspections of Iran Nuclear Sites

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the United Nations nuclear watchdog established in 1957 and headquartered in Vienna, Austria. On 24 June 2026, IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi stated in Tokyo that IAEA inspectors will visit Iranian nuclear enrichment sites. Since the 12-day war on Iran in 2025, Tehran has blocked IAEA access to enrichment sites, while routine inspections have continued at other facilities such as the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.

U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance stated that Iran had agreed to allow long-term nuclear inspections. Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson denied on 23 June 2026 that any new commitment had been made.
