What is Project Hawk Eye Surveillance Technology?
Project Hawk Eye is a surveillance and security initiative launched in Anantnag district, Jammu and Kashmir, for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026. Launched on 25-26 June 2026, it provides a multi-layered, round-the-clock security and monitoring grid along the pilgrimage routes.
About the Amarnath Yatra Security
The Amarnath cave shrine is located in the Himalayas in Jammu and Kashmir, with the pilgrimage route covering the Pahalgam and Baltal axes. The government has declared the routes from Jammu to the cave shrine, including the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, as no-fly zones, a measure used for security-sensitive events and pilgrimage routes.
Security Components
The project deploys drones for aerial surveillance, elevated observation posts known as Machan Morchas, specially trained sniper teams at designated points, and a large network of high-resolution CCTV cameras at critical locations to support continuous monitoring.
