The exam is held in a single session with two papers and a short break in between. Both papers contain only Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), and there is no negative marking.

Unit 1 • राजस्थानी भाषा: उद्भव, विकास एवं बोलियां
Origin and historical background of Rajasthani (Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, Apabhramsha), major dialects (Marwari, Mewari, Hadoti, Dhundhari, Wagdi, Mewati, Malvi), the Mudiya (Mahajani) script, and poetic styles like Dingal-Pingal, Jain, Charan, Sant and Laukik.
Unit 2 • राजस्थानी व्याकरण (Grammar)
Rajasthani alphabet and special sounds, plus grammar basics — nouns, pronouns, gender, number, case, adjectives, verbs, compounds, prefixes, suffixes, synonyms, antonyms, and tatsam/tadbhav/deshaj words, along with the dictionary-writing tradition.
Unit 3 • साहित्य: काल-विभाजन एवं रूप-परम्परा
Periodisation of Rajasthani literature (ancient, medieval, modern) and the forms of poetry and prose — Raso, Veli, Phagu, Barahmasa, Bat, Khyat, Vachanika, Vanshavali and more.
Unit 4 • प्राचीन राजस्थानी साहित्य
Ancient Rajasthani literature — its historical background, major trends, and key authors and works, with their classification, themes and special features.
Unit 5 • मध्यकालीन राजस्थानी साहित्य
Medieval literature and its trends (heroic, devotion, shringar, niti, riti, premakhyan, nature), key authors, and major saint traditions like Nath-Siddh, Vishnoi, Dadu Panth, Ramsnehi and Jain.
Unit 6 • आधुनिक राजस्थानी काव्य (Modern Poetry)
Modern Rajasthani poetry — national-consciousness & heroic verse, progressive poetry, nature poetry, Nai Kavita, satire, humanist poetry and translated poetry.
Unit 7 • आधुनिक राजस्थानी गद्य (Modern Prose)
Modern prose forms — short story, novel, drama, one-act play, essay, memoir, sketch, and other genres like satire, autobiography, criticism, travelogue and translated prose.
Unit 8 • राजस्थानी लोक-साहित्य (Folk Literature)
Various forms of folk literature — folk songs, folk tales, folk ballads (lokgatha), folk theatre, and proverbs, sayings, idioms and riddles.
Unit 9 • राजस्थानी लोक संस्कृति (Folk Culture)
Festivals and fairs, folk deities, folk arts (Mandana, Mehndi, Sanjhi, Phad), painting and architecture styles, folk dances and instruments, customs, cuisine, attire, beliefs, and cultural institutions, journals & awards.
Unit 10 • राजस्थानी काव्य-शास्त्र (Poetics)
Classical poetics — major theoretical texts, principles (Rasa, Alankar, Dhvani), word-power (shabd shakti), meters (chhand), figures of speech (alankar) and poetic faults (kavya-dosh).
